[Comments] (3) Going to FOSDEM:

This weekend I'm off to FOSDEM, a large free software/open source event in Brussels. For years I intended to go but for years I didn't make it. But this weekend I'll be there, taking the train later today!

This year there unfortunately seem to be precious few Python (or Zope, or Plone) related events at FOSDEM. Lots of other languages and web frameworks are there, so what's wrong with us? If this FOSDEM is a success, perhaps next year I can help organize some of those.

If you're going to be there and you'd like to say "Hi", please drop me an email (faassen at startifact.com) and we can see whether we can arrange to meet!

I’m going to FOSDEM, the Free and Open Source Software Developers’ European Meeting

Please complain kindly to the organisator. The French association (http://www.afpy.org/) proposed few things but they were refused despite the success of they previous edition because of lack off available rooms. I hope they will be more lucky next time. Have a good Fosdem.

All the more reason to come to EuroPython this year, I think! Attendee numbers from Belgium and particularly France were a lot lower last year than in 2006, although that might be due to the convenience of where EP 2006 was held for people from those countries.

I notice that the Dutch always turn out in reasonable numbers, though. ;-)

Alain Meurant of Affinic told me that he had made a request to the FOSDEM organizers for a Python room for Afpy (French speaking pythonistas).

That request was not met without him knowing why, even though the room they had last year was very crowded...
